Should I go with a Magpul CTR or a  Vltor modstock?I like the $49 modstock but I am willing to spend a little more for the CTR if necessary.I will be mounting this on a 6.8 hunting rifle with a 1.5-4 leupold. As far as cheek weld and durability which one is better?

Go with the Vltor stock because it is cheap enough so you can add another accessory. If you don't like it later you can always it an put on you latest build. And you can never go wrong with good quailty.

I have a CTR on my 6.8 and it works well for that platform.

Hands down the modstock has a much nicer cheek weld than the CTR. I would have to say "durability" is a tie but the CTR will have less "play" on the tube.

That being said I sold my magpul stocks and now I run 3 modstocks.

I agree modstock.  Recently shot a ctr right along side my e-mod stock.  Less felt recoil, easier to control,  and no noticeable weight difference on the e-mod.  One guy in our group with bad shoulders who had never shot a ar-15 type rifle liked the e-mod better as well.  One problem with modstocks if you have facial hair and are firing sometimes you will get your face hair pulled by the groves in the battery/ other shit storage tubes.  But you don't have to run with them on.
