I just got a DD QD sling swivel for my forward sling mount using a magpul MS2 sling. Anyone use a similar setup? I'm a little concerned about the possibility of the fat nose on the MS2 claw depressing the release button on the sling mount if it gets caught just right.

I've had no problems during actual carry & transition so far, but I have been able to cause the malfunction by hand. Hope that makes sense.

I'm not really sure if this is the same, but I have this one on the front left side rail of my duty rifle
Daniel Defense

And this one on the front left side of my SBR
MI

Never had a problem with MS2 hitting the release button.

I use a similar setup I think.  DD QD sling swivel on a Vltor CASV rail, MS2 sling.  Your fears are well founded.  I had that happen at the scene of a bank robbery.  The excitement was all over and we were securing the money which was scattered and blowing around a parking lot and the street.  Slung my rifle over my back and was walking when that fat nose you were talking about disconnected the swivel and almost dropped my rifle suppressor end down on the pavement.  Good reflexes saved the day.

The solution is hit that bitch with a file.  You can take a lot off the claw with a hand file.  Two of the things I didn't like about the sling, the claw and its swivel, I fixed with file and electrical tape.

That's exactly how my setup is. I think I might have a good reason here to bust out the dremel. Thanks for the info.

Oh, by the way, you might want to think about removing the cord attached to the rear claw release pin. I had that thing snag one time and it release my rifle which landed muzzle end on my foot. The ring attached to the pin is plenty to grab on. IMO that cord is too much of a liability.

You know, you'd think that would have happened by now but oddly enough it hasn't, Even on treks through thick wooded areas.  I may give that ring minus the cord thing a try with maybe a little electrical tape to snag proof the ring.
