So there are like a million different rail covers...I think I am pretty much set eighter Magpul, Troy, or Tango down covers. Right now I am leaning toward the Magpul XTM rails. But still like the full length covers...So I guess I am just gonna have to decide. But before I do, I want to know what do yall use or recommend. Pics would be nice. Going on a Omega 7 rail.

I've gone back and forth between the XTM covers and Ergo ladders on my Omega 7. I finally settled on ladders. I like the low profile.

Magpul XTM older version with sharp corners, new ones have rounded corners (but not on an Omega 7 - it's on my LaRue 9.0 rails)

Currently I prefer the XTM rail covers, they fit snug on my rails and I don't have to cut them as much like on my other KAC and TangoDown covers.

The only drawback that I stumbled on is it is a little slower to remove them than the standard covers, if you change rail configurations all the time maybe get the other standard covers you mentioned.

I like rail ladders. Check out the Surefire Z70 Ladders, very comfortable and they are only $15 for all 3 versus $12 per ladder from Magpul

I do want to try the troy or tango down panels, but not sure what the texture is like. I don't really care for the hard plastic feel.

Just like that, hard plastic. I went back to ladder rail covers after feeling up my TangoDowns for the first time. I wonder if XTM's would feel better...

+1 for Larue Index Clips, check them out.

The Troy covers are hard plastic. They look and feel good and lock up pretty snug but, I fear the clips will eventually wear out because they are just plastic rubbing against plastic and once they wear down they will no longer snap in place.

+1 for Larue Clips

These baby are extemely sturdy and nice and tight.  you also have more flexibility when configuring handguard accessories!  I love them!

The second picture is an old configuration, but I put it up there to show you that you can mount the index clips over the screws in the DD handguard.  All I did was take a dremal tool and cut out about a 1/16" on the back side of the LT index clips.  I did it to 6 clips and the whole process took about 8 minutes.

Another +1 for the XTMs.

I use XTMs on my middy with an Omega 9. If you match them up on each side (i.e., same location) then they will look nice like one-piece covers. I had to cut one of my panels to leave open the QD socket on one side (used delicate strokes with a hacksaw and some sandpaper to smooth) and it looks fine.

I will post pics later tonight.

I will try the Larue covers when they come in FDE.  For now I am using XTMs and I like them.

Ladders will protect the rails from damage, but they will do nothing to keep you from getting burned when the rails heat up under fire...

i prefer rail ladders as well.  They are very low profile so the handguard doesnt feel bulky in my hand

I think the XTM's look better, but the Rails from Magpul (which are made by Falcon Industries...Ergo) , offer a better grip and aren't as bulky.
