I am going to pick up a Harris swivel bipod. There will be some shooting from a bench and most from a prone position. I think I want a 9"-13". Is this the "best" height for prone? I think the 9" height might be a little high for bench, but I can use bags or a folded jacket if it is. I am more concerned about having a height useful for prone.
My AR has a quad rail, and unless I get some 20 round mags I will be using a 30 round mag.

So, do I need the BR model- 6"-9" or the 9"-13"?

If you are going to shoot from a prone position with any gear on I recommend you put on all your kit and measure to determine how tall your bipod must be; you would be surprised how "tall' your kit (vest, plates, mag pouches, etc.) will make you.

In the field I never need less than 9".

I use a notched leg 9-13" most often and the shorter one for bench only.

I won't be wearing anything like that, but when it's cold I will have on a coat.
I will measure it. I was hoping someone had already figured this out and it was not really that variable.
