Noob question.
I just bought a Ruger SR556 which has the rails already installed, and it has rail covers.
If I decide to start adding accessories (lite, laser, hand grip, etc.) do I totally remove the rail covers?

Dumb ass question I know, but I am full of them!!

You can remove the covers completely or move them around.  Just need to pop the retaining clip up and slide around or off.

You can also buy modular rail covers like Magpul's XT and XTM...ladder rails you can also cut to length.

I do like having the covers on.
I will have to look into these.  It seems like the best of both.

Depending on the kind you have or get, you can cut them to length or buy smaller sizes and pieces to fill the gaps.
