Probably a stupid question, but is there a way to attach a 2 point sling using standard mounds on an m4?  No rails, don't want rails. Standard collapsible stock.

Just attach it to the standard sling loops.  Or do you want QDs?

I just use the Israeli sling and Para cord to attach to the front and back.

thats what I was thinking, but it seems in every picture they are attached to a rail, or side swivel or some other such.

I could try to get some pics of how I do it.

How well does that paracord hold up to the heat of the barrel and gas block?

Another way of attaching a two point sling would be using a Universal Wire Loop (UWL) made by Blue Force Gear, here's a thread link for more info.

For collapsible M4 stocks, either a UWL or just mount the rear of the sling directly, here's an instruction with pictures, look at page 2 for the buttstock end of sling installation instructions.

Good.  I've shot it in class with no issues.

markm  thanks for the pic.  How does the rail mount on the hand guard work for you?

Works great.  I might like something a little beefier if I were in Iraq or something.  But for home defense, it's fine.

Also... My paracord is tied in such a manner that the sling tension holds the sling loop tight and quiet.
