Hey yall, i just got my AR in last week and was wondering if any of yall have the Blackhawk rifle case, or if you can make other suggestions for another good case.
blackhawk case: http://www.blackhawk.com/product/Rifle-Case,140,1401.htm Thanks, Rebel |

I would suggest looking at Pelican cases. They are hard cases with foam inserts. You can custom cut the foam to fit your setup.
The quality goes up, but so does the price. If you look around you can find them for decent prices. If you are curious about the quality of their cases, go to youtube and search for pelican case test. |

What length rifle do you have? For my 16" M4 I got this: http://www.rockmountaintactical.com/store/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=172 from SKD For the 20" ARs (and the M1A, and AR-10, '03s etc..), I just use a Boyt bag like this: http://www.casesandmore.com/Boyt-Harness-Co.-GC43P-BHC1013.html When I need to ship in a hard case, I can put several rifles in their Boyt bags, inside a Tuffpak hard case . The only rifles that I can't lock the lid on are the repro Springfield 1861, the Trapdoor Springfield and the Quigley Sharps, but it is adjustable and has a strap to secure the lid in place. |

I know CTD is crap on ammo, but they do have some good deals on accessories.
I bought this case from them and I'm extremely happy with it. The main pocket is large enough to hold my AR w/ collapsible stock along my 870 w/ a pistol grip collapsible stock. There is also another fairly large pocket/area that will hold another shorter rifle like a Mini 14 or my AR if I want to bring both my Mini's along with my AR to the range. The three pockets shown on CTD's page are large enough for quite a few magazines and a StripLULA. The zippers along with the straps and the rest of the bag are top quality and will hold up to quite a bit of abuse. The shoulder strap comes in very handy with all three 223's and magazines. If you would like some pictures of the case loaded with different rifles let me know. I should be able to take some and post them later today or tomorrow. |

Here's some quick pictures. Forgive the quality on some of them. I didn't have time to "fine tune" them.
The adjustable shoulder strap
The smaller "main" compartment
The main compartment
The padding around the main compartment
The removable magazine/storage pockets
The magazine/storage compartments with 12 30rd C mags and 5 Mini 14 20rd mags Also, notice the AR in the smaller "main" compartment. This is actually a three rifle case if handled with care.
AR15 with stock at 4th hole
870 with stock at 4th hole
It's tight, but they do fit and I can zipper it up no problem
Here are my two Marlins together to give you an idea on rifle length
As I said before I'm very happy with the case after many trips to the range with it and I highly recommend it (even if it is from More Expensive Than Gold) ETA: I do have 5.11's range bag (bought from OMBExpress) that I am extremely happy with. I think it's money well spent as it has plenty of room for everything and the construction is top notch. The adjustable straps, however, could use some work as they lengthen when I load the bag up with ammo. you can see more pictures of it here. |

voodoo tactical case well made $50 for a 36 inch (i have works well) $60 for a 42 inch (will hold an 870 too) very similar to the one above http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=19&t=443here is a thread with details488 |

That's a nice looking bag war07eagle.
Personally I think I'd rather have the smaller "main" compartment instead of the pistol compartments. When I go to the range I usually go for most of the day and bring a lot of stuff with me. There's no way everything would fit into one bag so the separate range bag I mentioned above in my edit is pretty much packed. That allows me to keep the rifle case for rifles and mags. If you go with just one rifle and a pistol or two the bag you mentioned should have room enough for everything. And even if there wasn't a cheap duffle bag or something could take up the slack. |
