So, I am wanting to put either a Vltor modstock or Emod on my Rock River lower and have some questions. Excuse my ignorance, but I have been through Vltor's site and can't find answers to some of these.
1. Can someone verify that Rock River buffer tubes are commercial and not milspec? I am 99% sure they are 2. Are both the Emod and standard modstock adjustable? Sounds dumb, but there are no pictures on Vltors site with them extended 3. I am looking at buying the Emod Basic Kit which includes the stock, battery compartments, butt/strike plate in the commercial version. Will this be a simple slide off of my RRA stock and slide on of the Vltor, or are extra parts needed (receiver extension tube, manual lock pin etc...) 4. The standard modstock model looks like it can be adjusted faster and easier than the clubfoot model (the lever mechanism looks different). Do you guys prefer the clubfoot or standard? |

RRA receiver extensions are commercial.
Modstock and EMod are collapsible. Commercial spec stock and commercial spec receiver extension = just pull the latch down and slide the stock on. Personal preference. I don't like the butterfly latch, though it's less prone to snagging. It's muscle memory vs. new and improved, but different. All of my stocks have the standard chevron latch so my fingers know where to reach for it without looking. As to the standard vs clubfoot, both can be used with the non-shooting hand supporting the stock, clubfoot just makes it easier. When I see clubfoot, I think light machineguns, looks kind of odd on a carbine. **unsolicited opinion...ditch the commercial spec extension and get a milspec one. If you want to go to an LMT SOPMOD later, or future stocks (that usually are milspec first, commercial version later, if at all), you'd be set. |
