I've got a little more time till I get my paperwork back but in the meantime I've been doing a little homework and have heard mention of some people having some issues with using a suppressor and the gas tube system does anyone have any experience with this and what issues might arise? would a gas piston kit be worth the investment in a case like this? any info would help.
Thanks! |
| What issues have you heard? 99.999999% of Suppressed AR users use gas tubes. You might get some extra blow-by in your face shooting with a can, supposedly the piston upper will help fix that. I just use a Gas Buster charging handle and really never had that big an issue with it. Otherwise dont know what other issue you would have. If you have FA than you could melt one, but your talking about CANS. |

A piston only cuts blowback like 10-15%...
Best for reducing backpressure is a low blowback design... larger baffle aperatures and back over the barrel designs are best. If you apready bought a can this is not an option. Next is doing the silicone gas buster mod to physically block gasses from getting to your face. Next for DI is the Gas Buster charging handle. If you wont do the above you should get this item to divert gas if you are right handed. Last is the piston... and its the most expensive. I have all but the silicone mod and I am still not happy... its on the to do list. Some people are reporting good results in delaying the bolt opening at the chamber (where most of the gas comes from) by using a switch block. I have no experience with those to share. |
| I have a suppressor that I use on both a 10.5" barrel AR and a 16" barrel AR. Both use gas tubes and have the silicone mod on the charging handles. I have never had a problem. I know several others with suppressed AR riles that have gas tubes and they have not had problems either. |
