Howdy Folks,

I'm new to this site and new to the AR-15 world.  I just purchased a couple of bushmasters and i'm going to change the furniture on my patrolman's carbine.  My question relates to the color of magpul products.  Is there a standard that the company and other companies adhere to?  I think I'm going to get a SA-XD in .45 if I got OD or FDE would it match magpuls?  Does anyone have any pictures of their XDs next to some magpul products?

sorry I can't help you with pictures...

but different manufactuers go with their own color schemes...

magpul has magpul Flat dark earth, magpul foliage, magpul Olive drab and magpul Urban Dark Earth(only available from LaRue as a complete furniture kit).  when compared to Vltor Flat dark earth they do not match as also seen with tango down and blackhawk products.  they are somewhat close and can work together as seen in the picture threads.

my best way to explain it would be to check out duracoats color schemes.

they list the different color patterns close to each other so you can see the similarities.

honestly the best way to do it, go to a gun show and compare what you are looking for at a table.  If I ever am looking for side by side comparisons I take my AR or XD9sc to the gun show and that way I'm not guessing.(although I have to put up with 1000s of "are you selling your rifle?")

these are all listed as FDE

the Magpul stock and the TD grip match, but the Cavarms handguard is lighter then in the pic, and the DSG mag is more true brown ( what I like anyways ) and painted the handguard the way I wanted. I still got a few more things to do with it but you get the ideal

and it's worse when it comes to gear

That magazine looks like Trijicon's version of FDE.

are you ragging on Trijicon, DSG or both and if so, why do you have a link ?

I wish more stuff listed as FDE was more that color, and not that puke tan

The color isn't bad but I'd call that copper color like what is called mirage tan.

I like the flat muted color of the Magpul FDE, but I don't really like coyote tan cause it looks too yellowish.

see to me that mag is not FLAT enough in color to be Fde.

a lot of people say that about that pic. trust me, it's more the flash of the camara, I'll try to take some out door pics of it.

My SA XD. Don't have any side by sides as my AR is black and green. I think the XD tan is lighter than most of the AR FDE accessories. Hope these help...
