I have been considering one of these, and would like to get some feedback from others experience.  This is to go onto a SPR type of rifle (20" though), and will mostly be used for varmint shooting.

I understand that the Versa Pod is a much less expensive (aluminum) version of the well respected Parker Hale system.

I have a lot of experience with the Harris system, and my bolt action rifles have worn them for years, but I was looking at other options this time.

While I have searched for threads on the Versa Pod, I have been unable to find much, any feedback would be appreciated.

No one has any experience with the Versa Pod?

I have used them since being introduced to one at a precision rifle class a few years ago.  I tend to "set" a bipod when shooting, and was having an issue smoothly tracking targets with my Harris.  The instructor produced a Versa Pod and said to try it.  I was pretty skeptical at first since it had so much vertical and horizontal "play" in it, but it worked great.  The one downside is the mounting system is a bit "clunky", but it is solid.  I use them exclusively on my precision rifles now.  The best for the money when shooting movers.  Sportsman's Guide had them CHEAP awhile back, I think $26.99 to club members.

Thanks for the response, I am just surprised that more people on here do not use them.

From what I understand the Parker Hale design is widely praised, unless the cheaper knock off is complete junk as far as materials, I would think it would be popular.

Oh well.

I have a versa pod on one of my Wilson's and I have no problems with it at all.

I use the prone length and the taller version.  I hunt with my guns and like being able to shoot off the tall bipod while seated.  I think most people don't use the versa-pod because they aren't aware of the variety of mounts you can get.  The first picture below is the regular mount.  The second picture shows the pic-rail mount that I use on guns with rails.  I have 8 guns equipped with versa-pods.  I find them to be the most flexible / useful bipods around (yes, I have some Harris bipods too).  I have better pictures, but I am not near the computer they are stored on.
