I have a S&W MP15 'optic ready' AR. I was in the market for a rail system. Because this is for nothing serious, I was opting for the drop-in route as opposed to a free float system. I was hoping you could help me by pointing me in the correct direction of what exactly will fit, i'd appreciate it. Dave |

Welcome to the Boards! There are a lot of different drop in rails available out there. From the High end to the more affordable - lower range. All will work well. Most are attached, the usual way a plastic handguard is attached. The higher end will be Daniel Defense which aside from being secured inside the delta ring and handguard cap, also has screws to fasten it securely. The more "affordable" HGs are Samson, Midwest Industries and Surefire, to name a few. Surefire will have a snug fit in all cases because of its clamping screws on the front of it's HGs that push the HGs on opposite ends. Hope that helps. |

I would go with the Daniel Defense Omega Rail. It is a drop in free-float rail that requires no modifications to your rifle. I went with a non-free float rail initially on my rifle and it just wasn't stable enough. The Omega is very stable and simple to install. Daniel Defense Omega Rail Purchased mine from here |

Not sure if budget is a consideration. But if you want a stable platform, for say 140 to 170 you can get the MI car or mid length. its very stable and took me about 15min to install. Here is a how to pictorial on how to do it and what it looks like. I love mine. link to guide |
