Can anyone recommend a hard (flight) case that will fit two guns (AR10 + AR15) with optics?  I ordered an SKB quad case, but it broke during shipping, so I don't think I'll get one of those.  I tried Pelican but they aren't making custom sizes.  Any suggestions appreciated.  Thanks.

I just got my pelican 1750 and first impressions is that it is very well made/sturdy.  Just have to wait till Magpul releases the UBR stock so I can cut the foam.  The case is fairly heavy at about 25 lbs empty.

I would think that you should be able to easily put both rifles in, if you dont have the mags inserted (probably dont want them in anyway due to nervous people.  Of course that will depend on accessories and lengths of barrels.   Also, even the height of the optics will factor in.  It might just not be possible to keep it in one case and/or keep the optics on  (re-zero'ing optics is a lot easier/cheaper than replacing them after all)

I would suggest that you measure out the foam size with masking tape on a desk or floor before you buy the case and try to make things fit.  Remember that you want to leave at least 1" padding around all items, if not more if you can get away with it.

Looking at the foam cutting pages here on page 8, it looks like quite a few people have done something very similar to what you'll be doing.  Most have an A2 upper and no optics, where if you have a a3 upper with optics, it might be pretty close.

Of course you dont have to go through all the cutting and such if you dont want to, as the cases work just fine with out.  A bit tighter than I expected when I tossed a few rifles in mine with out cutting.  Should keep your rifles nice and safe for the trip.

Pelican, Storm (Hardigg), and Starlight all make very durable cases and all offer one in about the right size.  Pelican is probably the cheapest of the 3.

Hey thanks for the suggestions so far.  I've gone and looked at all the suggested cases, and  it looks like none of them is quite big enough.  If I keep the optics mounted on both, I need about 50"Lx18"W.  Even if I take the optics off one of them and sort of stagger them, I'll need something like 53"Lx15"W.  I really don't want to have to take optics off the other one.

I guess I'll see if Hardigg or Starlight can make me a custom size, but then I may be close to the price of just getting two cases.

I'm surprised no one else has this same problem.  Maybe most people disassemble to some degree?

Remember when measuring, you want to measure the foam size, not the case size.  For example, the 1750's foam is 50.5"x13.5".  All the double rifle cases seem to be a bit on the narrow side though.

Of course there is always something like these

specifically the quad rifle case (opens on both sides), or even the double one thats more like a crate and the rifles sit upright.

I dont have any idea as to the quality of these cases though.  Ratings seem high.

Most of the double open cases I've seen seem to have a really thin middle layer of foam; making them ok for around town, but not necessarily good for air travel.   Cant really trust pics, but the middle section does look thicker then the cases I've seen.

I think to be on the safe side, and if weight/size isn't a concern, a safari type case would probably be your best bet since it sounds like your rifles are fairly high.

Hey thanks again.  That Safari case seems to be perfect.  I was preferential to the "hard plastic" type cases, but I may go with one of those since it seems to be the perfect size.  I'll let you know what I end up with... for the record.
