I am in the market for a set of quality electronic earmuffs.  I have a giftcard for Academy, but the only set they carry are the Silencio Falcons and I haven't heard anything about these.  Are they any good?  I have heard good things about the Peltor Tactical 6's and was wondering if I should just order these online instead.  Are there Any others I should consider?  Any advice or recommendations are appreciated.

I've always been pretty fond of the MSA Sordin Supreme Pro.

The two best will be either the Peltor COMTAC 2 and the Sordin Supreme Pro.  After that its a question of what you are willing to spend vs reduced features and quality.

+1 on above statement...

Peltor COMTAC/SWATAC II

MSA/Sordin Supreme Pro

PRO-EARS Sporting Clays DIMENSION 2

I have all of the above electronic headsets/earmuffs and they are all excellent and all very pricey !!! Another set you should look at is the Peltor SPORTTAC Tactical Sport headset. These seem to be very reasonably priced for their features and a step up from the Peltor Tactical 6's. Some good info here: www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=19&t=289513...

Peltor Tactical Pro. Expensive. About $160 shippped but are well worth it. They are so comfortable you can wear them all day.

Try the Peltor Tactical 6. Bowers Tactical sells them for about $70. You can get a standard over the head band, or a behind the head band.

PELTOR, Tactical Sports (Electronic Muffs)

For an addition $20 the latest offering from Peltor should be considered...

If you go with Peltor, I-Shot's gel upgrades are absolutely the only way forward. They are extremely comfortable (so much so I never took off my ears for hours during my last class) and the double wall construction means they actually improve sound reduction (to my ears anyway).

COMTAC IIs are outstanding. If you're going to spend TacPro money....you might as well spend a bit more and get the works. Otherwise the Tacsports are outstanding value.

I can only tell you what NOT to get.  I purchased the $30 cheapos from SG(?).  Bulky, heavy, slow response time, dirty pots...other than that they work fine.

The vocal mic'd units appear bulky.  Is there an issue with the stock touching them during a good cheek weld?

I have a set of ComTac IIs and they are really, really good.  However, everyone who has tried one so far has said that the new TacticalSport is a winner too.

Can anyone tell me how well the Sordins seal around Oakley M frames?  I have problems with my current Peltors and the Oakleys.

Thanks!

I have both Sordins and Peltors and don't find the ear pad on the Sordins to be any better than the standard ear pads of the Peltors. The only significantly better option are the Gel Ear Seals for the Peltors which not only seal better but are much more comfortable to wear for extended periods of time.

I have the Pro-Ears Dimension 3s (got off eBay a while back for $100) and I always thought they had the best performance but tried a set of the Sordin Supreme at the range and found them very good also.

I just wanted to give everyone an update.  I ordered a set of MSA Sordin Supreme Pro-X's and they just arrived in the mail this morning.  They look great, and I cannot wait to try them.  I would like to thank everyone for their advice and suggestions.

Yep.  Complete junk, or very close to it.

The batteries in mine keep coming loose from the battery holder, forcing me to disassemble the stupid thing to make it work again.

Also, I seriously doubt that you can find replacement ear seals for them.
