Hi, I've done my research here on cases and I'm planning on purchasing a Pelican 1700. In checking out the case options at the Pelican website I discovered they offer several foam options: Pelican 1700 Foam Options These are the options displayed: 1)Basic Protection - Empty Case. (no foam) = $139.51 2)Good Protection - Case filled with Solid Polyurethane Foam & Convoluted Lid (No Pick 'N' Pluck) 3 foam pieces per set: 2 pcs. are 1.62" thick and one convoluted (egg-crate) foam lid pad. = $155.97 3)Better Protection - Pelican case 1700 for Guns, comes with interlocking convoluted foam padding to protect your gear. (egg-crate lower & lid) = $173.00 4)Best Protection - Gun Case with closed cell Polyethylene Bottom & Convoluted foam padding. Bottom is filled with 2 pieces of closed cell Polyethylene foam, (2.12" thick and 1.06" thick base pad) Top: one piece of convoluted (egg-crate) open cell Polyurethane foam pad. = $195.00 When I browse all retailers I know of selling Pelican cases I see no means to select these foam options. What is the "default" or standard foam option? Anyone have the new "closed cell Polyethylene Foam"? Is the "closed cell Polyethylene Foam" really $40 superior to the "Solid Polyurethane Foam" for the bottom foam layers? |

Why not just splurge and get the Civilian Version SOPMOD M4 rifle Pelican case ? www.casesbypelican.com/m4sopmod.htm That's the shit! Or if budget minded, i'd get #2. 2)Good Protection - Case filled with Solid Polyurethane Foam & Convoluted Lid (No Pick 'N' Pluck) 3 foam pieces per set: 2 pcs. are 1.62" thick and one convoluted (egg-crate) foam lid pad. = $155. You can custom cut the foam to fit whatever you can envision. It's quite easy to do. HS1 |
