I am looking for a good vertical fore grip with an inset for a pressure pad. I also need to be able to hook it to my handguards.....no rails.

So, I think I need a small picatinny rail, and a foregrip, right?

Any suggestions.

Thanks

You don't want it to work on a rail, or you do?

If you are looking for a rail to mount on your handguards, know ahead of time that most of the cheaper rails for the handguard are exactly that, cheap.  The better quality ones are pricey, but its a matter of how much you use the weapon and what your plans are for it.  Only you know that answer.

There are numerous companies that make VFG with a cutout, my favorite is the Tango Down.

I have a CJWeapons 6" tapered rail (found here 216.136.50.147/aspcart45/default.asp?page=299&start=1).

One of the nuts was mis-threaded when I got it so install took about an hour and some blood, but once it's on there it's very solid.  The specific VFG is up to you, but that rail is a decent cheap alternative.  I mounted a VFG and light to mine and it fits a lot tighter to the handguard than the handguard does to the rifle.

So basically you want it to look something like this but with a VFG that has the pressure pad cutout.

You will need to purchase a rail, you can find them from several online retailers.
Look here GTS or here Bravo Company
I would also suggest a TangoDown VFG as well which can be purchased from both GTS or Bravo Company.

My unit has tried various rails for standard handguards and found many to be junk.  I have had great success with Advanced Armament's rail (about 22 bucks from Brownells).  the spec is good unlike many and we have attached numerous makes and types of accessories to it without issue of fit.
