[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Single Point slings

I see many pics on here of ARs with the single point slings attached where the buttstock meets the lower. Is there one brand of these that is far and away better than others? What mod do I need to connect to the rifle?

I like the Giles Single Point Sling (tm) which you can get from The Wilderness.

You need an adapter sling plate. There are models for fixed stocks and models for telestocks that replace the receiver end plate. There is even a model that clamps around the receiver extension so you don't have to remove the receiver extension.

have you or anyone seen any that will work with the ACE stock. I know they got the ones that will go into a screw hole put I like the PLATE types. I didnt see anything on the ACE website, jus the ones for Collapsable stocks.

Yes, there are plate adapters for fixed stocks. If you want to use one on the ARFX skeleton stock then I don't think it'll work. The plate adds about a 1/4" of an inch to the overall length and there is a matching spacer that goes on the end of the buffer tube. That works fine on a normal stock where the buffer tube is fully covered but on the ARFX that only covers the end of the buffer tube you may find that it doesn't wrok as well. Even if it does work it is sure to be a weaker system than without the plate.

I used a Wilderness single point along with the Hushstalker sling swivel that Wilderness sells on my ARFX for a couple years and was very happy with it.
