Just follow the instructions that come with the battlegrip, it tells you to watch for the detent and spring.  The grip also comes with the correct allen wrench needed to install it.  As long as you don't lose the detent or spring, it is painless.

What is the detent and how wold one losse it. I just replaced my grip and all I saw was the little spring?

Its the little tubular piece of metal that is inside the hole, between the spring and the safety mechanism.   When the spring comes out, the detent is exposed and may fall out if you turn it upside down.    Very small, and virtually impossible to find once it hits the floor.

You'll like the grip.   I got mine from Bowers Tactical on the EE.
