I couldn't be more pleased with mine. I chose the standard and never tired the club-foot so don't know for sure regarding that option. Mine also came with the newer long tubes and I'm glad I didn't need to upgrade. It also included a cheapie but serviceable wrench so don't bother buying one. I don't know of any EE vendors to avoid and got mine from Wes (MSTN) along with his traditional outstanding service. About the only thing I've seen negative is from some folks with full beards don't like getting whiskers trapped in the tube retaining slots. No trouble for me with my mustache though <ETA - neat carbine XTrooper.> |

I have a VLTOR Mod Stock with 2 storage compartments, and I love it! For storage, I have the following on my 16 M4. TD Vertical grip with a Spare Bolt, Firing Pin and Firing Pin retaining pin stored inside. Magpul MIAD grip with an Otis cleaning kit and patches inside, and... A Mod Stock that has 2 SF Batteries with foam ear plugs in the front and rear to avoid noise in the compartment from the batteries moving around. In the other compartment, I have 2 SF Batteries and a "Tube" of CLP. I have 4 batteries on my rifle because I use 3 in my SF 9V M962 Weapon Light and 1 battery in my LDI LAS/TAC Laser. Tack |

Say, fellas, I have one other question. My CAR-15 has a Bushmaster upper and an old Colt "pre-ban" lower. The collapsible stock you see mounted on it now is of some unknown make. Does the fact that it is on the Colt lower make its tube a "Colt-type" tube further making it compatible with the Vltor stocks? I read in their material that they are only compatible with Colt dimensioned tubes. Any help regarding this would be greatly appreciated. Possibly someone could mike their tube and tell me its diameter so I can check it against my existing one? Thanks! |

If you use the Colt tube extension you may have a very limited number of locking positions (all depending on when it was manufactured and by who). Yes you would need a mil-spec tube to use the VLTOR. I would think it is possible for it to be a non-spec tube if you say the stock is of unkown origin. Do you know the complete history of the rifle? Additionally the VLTOR tube has 5 positions to lock into. Food for thought. ![]() Got one end of last year and it is the best stock I own. You will not be disappointed. |
Well, I bit the bullet and bought the whole Vltor kit so I'll use its extension tube. The complete history of rifle? Yes, it's an M4forgery I put together myself. It's comprised of a Colt pre-ban lower and a Bushmaster 14.5" barreled upper. I picked up the collapsible stock for cheap at a gun show. It works, but its parentage is unknown. |
Thanks XTrooper. It seems from the photos that the "rake" of the butt-plate is a little more pronounced on the clubfoot than it is on the standard. I don't need the off-hand grasp that Vltor mentions on their website as being a feature of the clubfoot but was wondering about your general impression of any potential utility from a carbine perspective. You're welcome. Yes, I think besides the slightly longer length of the clubfoot, the angle of the buttplate makes mounting your weapon easier. It's really amazing how much difference that slight rake makes, but there was, as I stated earlier, an immediate and definite improvement. |
Yeah. I'll see if I can scare up somebody here in my area who has one I can look at closely - maybe even swap for a test. I really like my standard but who knows, I might like the clubfoot even more. Glad you're pleased Steve. Steve |
