Just got one of these at the gunshow, and got a plate for my M4 so I could use it with the sling.  Is there only one way to wear this sling (over the head, under the shoulder)?  What's all the extra webbing for on the sling?  Are there instructions available for this sling?  (mine didn't come with).  Thanks for any help.

The extra webbing is to mount to another weapon. Here's a link to the sling on Spectre's website

Mout sling

I guess I mis-spoke.  I know the little "tail" is to attach to the weapons sling mounting plate.  I'm talking about all the extra webbing that's in the part that you wear.  There are 3 straps in there.  I think the main purpose of the MOUT sling is weapon retention, but didn't know if there was more to it or not.

Also, where can you buy extra "tails" for more weapons?

I found the sling part to be cut a little long...there's plenty left over after I got it set to my liking.  I left it there, but I imagine you could cut it and melt the end without trouble.

You can buy extra tails for $5 at www.spectergear.com   (I think thats the price)

So am I correct in thinking that the sling is strictly for weapon retention?  There's ONE way to wear it, yes?

I've only ever seen it worn one way and that is as you described.  I like it when you need to transition to another weapon (pistol, etc.) but it has no use I can see beyond holding the weapon to your body.  Not great to walk around with either unless you keep a hand on the rifle.

Beware the use of shorts and this sling as well

Edited cause I can't speeeel

This is exactly the reason I don't like single-point slings at carbine classes.

I don't think that your question has fully been answered yet.  Let me try.  I too have the MOUT sling.  The extra webbing you're referring to is - the main body of the sling has one strand of webbing on one side and two on the other.  The second on the other side starts at the adjustment buckle.  This second strand of webbing is for shortening or lenghtening the sling.  As you move the buckly you take up or let out more of the webbing either shortening or lenghtening that second strand.  I hope this helped.
