I have a friend that does re-enacting and needs a specifig sling for his AR.

What he needs is the old style web sling. It passes through the front swivel and through a metal buckle that "flips" opne and closed. At the buttstock end it has a metal clip that snaps onto the sling loop.

Apparently they were made in a web/fabric material and were in either OD or black. Anyone got a source for those? I know some CMP guys use them, and I have one someplace, I just can't find it at the moment.

Thanks!

probably not to much help but that is the style the USMC uses or at least did in 2001.  Might want to look on some websites catering to them

They can be purchased at Brigade Quartermasters .

Follow the link and search for "sling".

Early originals were OD or black cotton. Current production are nylon. I purchased 2 USMC slings from Quantico Arms (great people!).

A fellow member recently gave a box full of originals away here at AR15.com. I received a black cotton sling and an OD sling. USMC slings are about 6 inches longer so Marines can use them as "loop slings".

sounds like the "M1 Garand" sling every gun show around here has for about $5 each
