So I just finished converting over to 6.5 and now I can't decide on an optic. I have however narrowed it down to two choices-

Nightforce ATACR 4-16x42 F1
Vortex Razor HD Gen 2 1-6x24

I know these are seldomly cross shopped and they are a bit apples to oranges, but oh well.

The rifle will primarily be used for hunting and the shots will almost always be within 200 yds. With that in mind, the Vortex should be the better pick.

Having said that, it would be nice to go stretch the rifles legs at a local range from time to time. The ATACR would fit better here.

Right now I'm 50/50 for either scope, but I need to decide today so that I can get it on the rifle before next weekend for my next hunting trip.

I took my Nightforce 5.5-25 off of my Grendel and put it on my 6.5 Creedmore.  I went with a Leupold MK4.
Here she is with the Nightforce.

I had a Beast on there for a bit, but it was wayyy too much scope for my needs.

The 6.5 Grendel is easy to shoot to 600 yards with a 16” barrel.  A Friend has a Vortex Viper PST 4-16 scope on his 18” 6.5 Grendel.   He has a mil type reticle and can easily shoot to 800 yards.  Beyond that distance he’d need a 20 MOA mount or hold over using his reticle.

I have a 1-6 on a mid length 16” 5.56/223 (which is basically a 300 yard carbine) but for my 6.5 Grendel that has more capabilty I like at least a 3-9 or2.5-10.   One 16” 6.5 Grendel I’m using a 3-9 Mark AR mil dot, other 16” 6.5 Grendel has a Vortex 4-12 in a 20 MOA mount.  My 20” 6.5 Grendel has a Vortex Viper 6.5-20X50 mil dot in 20 MOA mount.

1-4x BURRIS XTR

1-4 Nikon Monarch German #4

LARUE SPR-E, mounts the optic forward, so you can get a proper cheek-weld.

Wound up taking a Nightforce 2.5-10x24 on partial trade for the Beast. Throwing it in a Spuhr SP-3026 to finish everything out.

You got an excellent scope to match I think.

If you color match the Spuhr to your Cerakote, it will really complement the Cobalt Kinetics rifle I think.

I've been shooting Grendel on 10x pretty much the whole time since I got into it.

Looking forward to how your CK rifle works out.

that is a cool lookin rifle.

for some reason, maybe the color, it reminds me of Gene Stoner's early AR10 prototype, called the X-03 or AR10A

( better pics in the Collector grade AR10 book)

third one down, on the right, has a sort of golden anodize color...
