I'm not sure which AR I'll be putting it on, but it is going on a AR.
I had a eotech, I loved it and made shots with it that typically were above my skill level. Even with a astigmatism, though slight , I prefer and feel most comfortable with unmagnified or a 1x red dot. So....I sold my eotech and got a trijicon ACOG. I love everything about it , BUT THE 4X. It drives me nuts. I suck close and suck at BAC and I notice my shakiness too much with the magnification. Trijicon durability is great though. This thing feels solid. I heard about the MRO...it seemed really cool and I wanted one, like now. But my research made me stumble upon the mro patrol. Cool. Then I saw the rx43 with no batteries and remembered my olden days with a reflex. What the hell do I do? I like the MRO over the patrol, I think? But that rx43 with field of view and no battery sure is attractive. Am I missing a pro or con? Help me pick the ultimate choice. Get me out of this ACOG. I can't buy both or all three. |

Consider the best of both worlds. Your a fan of Trijicon products so look at their new 1-8 FFP. It's a true 1X optic and can be used, both eyes open, as a red dot when on 1X. If you need to engage at distance or target identify, then you have up to 8X to help you out and the optic is illuminated with a standard watch battery in either red or green. Turrets lock and the glass is clear. Its a perfect optic for an AR or a DMR setup.
The only downside is it is a bit on the heavy side and its in the $1200 range depending on where you buy it. The ACOG is probably in the ballpark for being about the same weight but it costs as much as one of the two military ACOG's available on the civilian market. |

Trijicon has a great warranty, I wonder if they would let me swap for something else if I didn't like it? |

Battery life just for starters The best for me, my list? reticle - Parallax free - weight - FOV - AP battery life - great glass - MRO or like sized optic and at a lower price. I like the PA ACSS reticle and I want my list at the right price point ($500 - $600). I have never owned an EOTech but it is a possibility. - reticle - Parallax free - weight (could be less) - FOV - price. Less weight would compensate for the use of a magnifier. The short battery life in the EOTech - laser diode. AP uses an LED emitter. |

the variable optics are where it is at sir. Buy a quality 1-6 or 1-8 and you'll be happy. There are a lot of models that also have dots in the center that are daylight bright. Getting onto close targets are just as quick on the 1x setting as using a dot for me.
