Can't afford night vision, looking to upgrade beyond my "Kill Light" green light for hogs that mounts either on top of your scope or under your barrel. This will mainly be used for my 70 year old father to take care of hogs tearing up his ranch. I'm building him a 300 BO AR15, he wants optics at this point but doesn't like the KillLight.

Thermal. But that's just as expensive.

Look, you're going to have to bite the bullet on this one. And for hogs I'd go thermal. Figure how much damage they are causing. I'm sure saving crops will pay for the thermal eventually.

get a used gen 2 in the EE, big IR light, prob the cheapest route.

unless you can do it correctly NV is on of the things you need to spend money on.

If you search diligently you can find a decent Thermal scope for around $1500. Aside from a Gen 2 dedicated NOD scope + IR light, this will be your best "cheapest" option.
