How many people have experience with mounting Aimpoint Comp's on A1 carbines? I am currently using a PRO on the gooseneck mount but I am not completely satisfied with the bulk of it all. Would you fellas suggest using an ARMS #16 or maybe just mounting something like a DD Omega 7, since I also need a place to put my light?
Edit: Please, don't say get a flattop, I already have a carbine like that... |

Get a free float rail and mount the sight in front of the upper?
There's no low profile way to mount an Aimpoint to a carry handle that I know of that would compare to something like direct mounting and ACOG. Your looking at 2.5"+ "above the rail" or 3.75"+ height over bore with a carry handle rail and rail mount Comp mount. |

I like the ARMS 16 well enough, that would probably work great for you.
My favorite though is the Aimpoint gooseneck with the extra clamp but, as you stated, I guess it's too bulky fir your liking. For a light, I would use an MI or GG&G front sight rail clamp. I would not mount an optic on any non-monolithic handguard rail though, so I would say don't bother trying to put an optic on an Omega. |
