I'm looking at a SpecterDR for my HK 762 (7.62).
Anyone else running one? Your thoughts about it? Any lead on best possible prices? |

I have two. Optically is great with big FOV. German Schott glas with daylight bright illumination.
If you can live with: Price ARMS lever external adjustment weight, it's not as bad as people complain. It's still lighter than a 1-4x or 1-6x (16-18 oz average) with a QD mount (7-8 oz for the good ones). Just make sure to get the latest version of the Specter DR! They also makes good flip-up covers for it now. Still pricey but it's Tenebdrex (sp?), which it the top end. |

I've got one of the newest versions on my scar 17. Without a doubt my favorite optic. Glass is the best I've seen.
The eye relief leaves something to be desired, though. Bought mine (1-4) from OpticsPlanet for $1975 w/ the bikini lens cover. Came with the kill flash. |

Not the scope you are discussing, but received my ELCAN OS4X last week from Europtics, it was fresh in the box, had the kill flash and flip covers included but uses the 1/3 battery.
The optic is great, sighted it in yesterday, less than 5 rounds to get on target at 100 yards. I do like the flip covers, down side, can't use them on the front without the kill flash. I don't need a kill flash, so I very easily popped the honey comb out, can reinstall later if I would want to. Attached File Attached File The DR is next for me... 77 |

I recommend trying before you buy. I used both the 1-4x and 1.5-6x while deployed. I personally prefer the Trijicon TA11 much more. The Elcan is a lot of clams to drop if you're not sure. Try one first. |

I own two 1x4's that are on my 5.56 AR's and think they are great.
My friend has the 1.5x6 on his 5.56 AR. I shot that at distance and loved the 6x. I didn't get on with the 1.5x like I did the 1x but I also did not spend a lot of time with it. If they did not cost so much I would pick up the newer 1x3x9 Elcan. |

Totally agree with your 1-8 selection...like the ELCAN, but with the 762, the 8X will work great.
I have a 762 Larue that needs glass, looking at a NF, but the Trijicon 1-8 keeps speaking to me. I have a 1-4 Accupower that I am getting used to, taking me a while, but it has really starting to grow on me. 77 |
