Hey guys, newbie here in hunting. If you had a budget of $5k what would be your ideal night visiOn set up? I currently have a deal to take an used REAP IR for 6,500 (I'm throwing a trade with value of $1.5k).  Trying to see if there are better ways to spend that money.

I have a deer stand and feeder (about 100 yds apart) and there have been numerous hog sightings.

You want a hand held spotter and scope. I would recommend a 384 resolution Pulsar scope and spotter.

640 resolution, like the REAP-IR, would be best, but you aren't getting both the scope and the spotter for $5k.

You could use the REAP-IR dual purpose  for awhile and add a spotter later, which is what I would do.

Weapon mount or monocular.

With that, you could get a ITT PVS-14/helmet/mount, and IR laser, or a  D740, AND another weapon.

PVS-14, helmet mounted, and an IR laser.  Call TNVC and talk with them.

Is the reap ir by itself not sufficient for hunting purposes? How are the warranties with these manufacturers? Putting thousands into something that could fail and then getting nothing for it is scary.

I got my ITT AN/PVS-14, D-760 GenIII, and OSTI AN/PVS-22 Mil Spec from TNVC.
Never a moments trouble, incredible service before, during, and after the sale.
