I posted some photos of this scope a few years ago and a few guys responded with some thoughts on what this scope might be.  But since then I moved and ended up with a new email address and the emails I received were lost.  I got this scope from a friend probably 5-6 years ago, he told me it was an Israeli Army scope for an M16.  He had ties with the Israeli Army and had spent some time in Israel.  Unfortunately my friend passed away and isn't around to answer specific questions on where he got the scope.

I'm attaching a few photos of the scope.  It appears to have been modified to fit onto the carry handle of an M16A1, but it doesn't fit on my AR15.  The mounting screw is too large for the hole in my carry handle.  It may be my upper or it just might not be what I thought it was.  I have searched the web looking for anything that looks like this scope, but I keep coming up empty.  The scope has a small donut reticle, no magnification, no illumination.

At this point, I'm just curious about what this thing is, if anyone has run across anything like this I'd be interested to hear what you know.

The optic you pictured has a label showing Ortek which is Ortek LTD a major Israeli defense contractor.  I'm unsure if Ortek manufactured this optic or was a vendor for the optic which ended up in service with the IDF.  Ortek list night vision equipment on their web site so it doesn't seem unreasonable to assume the IDF obtained this optic from Ortek.  The scope appears to be a low power optic and is similar in design to a 4 X scope used by the US Army in the late 60's to early 70's on M-16 A1.  The scope might have printing to indicate whether it is 2 X (power/magnification) 2.5 X or 4X.

Maybe someone else will chime in with more specific information.

Interesting optic. Maybe you could get a cheapo detachable carry handle and drill that out so it fits then mount on a flat top AR to try it out.
