I am thinking about getting a prism sight for my M&P-15 and I have been looking at the Vortex Spitfire 1x and the Vortex Spitfire 3x and also the Burris AR-332 . Does anybody have any experience with any of these sights ? Thanks

i have the AR-332 with the fast fire on top. i was happy with it on my first build but my only issue was the screw on the top rail stripped out of the body. and after sending it back to get fixed burris did a half ass job and with it did it again after less then 15 rounds. other then that it wasent bad. but i think vortex would be a better option

I have a Burris AR-332 and an AR536 with a FF3 on top of it. I love the setup and has been very reliable despite some abuse. Burris makes good stuff, all mentioned above with a lifetime no questions asked warranty. I also have several other Burris scopes. I would recommend them to anyone. Of course it's not as combat proven as a Trijicon but they haven't let me down. And I have a TA31A as well.

I have read a few reviews of people complaining about the eye relief on the Burris AR-332 . Does anyone share those thoughts on the eye relief ?

I don't have any problem but I usually shoot at bench or prone with 2 clicks out on stock and nose to CH, so YMMV. It has a short eye relief on the 536 with 2.5-3.5", so it would not work out with stock extended a lot. Eye relief on my Trijicon is 1.5".

I have heard of complaints of the eye relief too, but it has a mostly five star rating and mostly likes on Burris's website and any other Burris thread I've read. It's a poor man's ACOG but they have held up great so far with me.

Just a heads up. Burris is offering free fast fire with any ar332 ar556 purchase. Check out the the promo on slick guns or go to their website. You can grab one for like 240 with the free fast fire.

I have both the ar332 and ar536 on rifles I let people use and they are prettty damn good for the price. Most people like the fact they can change the color of the reticle and the built in magnification. In my opinion I think the recticle is alittle too big for me, but still very functional.

I see a bunch of new people in this thread.

Welcome aboard all!  Glad you could join us.

Here's my latest comment on the Vortex Splitfire 3x:

http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_1_5/1973864_Which-optic-for-100-200-yards---16-AR-using-bulk-or-surplus-ammo.html&page=2&anc=65055773#i65053120

With a further comment on the reticle a few posts lower.

I am very happy with it and consider it a great scope for the money.

I had looked at the Burris but didn't care for the reticle.  I liked everything else about the Burris, just not the reticle.  When I finally found the Vortex I knew I would love the reticle and have not been disappointed in the least with my choice.

How is the eye relief on the Vortex  ? I prefer my Magpul CTR stock fully extended . Would I still be able to use it that way or would I have to shorten the stock to get the proper eye relief ? Thanks

I prefer the Vortex 3x reticle over the Burris 3x reticle.  I want to try the Vortex 1x and see how it compares to an Aimpoint.  The little star I see through the Aimpoint makes distant shots difficult.

I just got a 332 Burris. Very clear, can hardly wait to use it then make a couple range trips this summer to check zero.

@Tee3

Sorry about the late reply.

Here it is mounted on my A4 clone;

It's back as far as it'll go with the buis claiming the last few slots.  I shoot with my nose nearly touching the charging handle so I'm comfortable with this.

It was also on my Colt M4 6920 that doesn't have a buis and I shoot it one notch shy of fully extended.

As I recall eye relief is about average to maybe a little short for a 3x scope but you should find it a comfortable fit.

I have the Aimpoint T2 on my SBR and a PRO on one of my carbines but I also have three Vortex Spitfire 1X etched rigs on other weapons...including one 590 SPX shotgun. All the Spitfires have proved rugged and dependable and do extremely well in either the illuminated or off (etched reticle only) setting. The only real advantage for me so far is that the T2 is smaller and has much, mush better battery life. The Pro is a bit larger than the Spitfire but it too has the much celebrated Aimpoint battery life. The Vortex Spitfire series (1X and 3X) absolutely eat batteries when left in the illuminated position but...the etched reticle makes most of the illumination unnecessary for average use. Overall...in my experience with use and selling dozens of them in the shop...the Spitfires as a whole are GTG and extremely overlooked for their function and price range.

I recommend them...

I'd look at the primary arms 3x as well.  Warranty on that isn't as good as vortex or Burris but don't think it's really a problem.  If mine does have a problem it would probably be after some advancement in their optics has taken place and I'd want to upgrade anyway.

Also, I don't think you can use a ACOG mount on the Vortex.  Huge disappointment for me.

True.  I think.  I know LaRue doesn't offer an qd mount for the Splitfire but American Defense does.  I'll get one someday but would rather have a LaRue mount.

You can drill another hole for it.  Personally I would get the Burris 332 while the rebate is going for the free fastfire III.  Great deal.
