I have a Holosun red dot mounted to my SBR and decided to attach my Vortex VMX-3T behind it.

Why is the magnifier not aligned with my red dot? I tried the magnifier with a Strikefire, and they both align.

I'm very noobish when it comes to optics, so how do I troubleshoot this? My holosun is zeroed and appears straight on the receiver.

Looks like the Holosun is to the right at the rear. Look at the last pic, compare the ocular side to the picatinny rail.

Damn, now my eyes are playing tricks on me.

Why would it be offset? Should I buy a different mount?

I would try it and see if there is a big POI shift between magnified and not magnified.

I assume you don't want to rezero the magnifier when switching between rifles?

Check that all mounting surfaces are free from burrs etc.

Prob cause the mount is kinda cheap, esp consider the fact its a swivel mount vs flip.
Check the screw holes' and lug alignment on the 3x itself, compare it to the mount itself to see if a better mount would correct the issue.

Either way, you should be ok if you use the turrets to recenter the dot.

ETA: Oops, for some reason I thought it was a swivel style.  Doesn't really change anything though.

The mount for your red dot which side is it clamping vs which side is the screw running through?  Maybe reverse the mount where the clamp is on the opposite side it is now and the screw goes in the opposite way?

Take some basic measurements of each relative to their mounted positions..

The offset is also noticeable using the LT-660 mount with my EOtech G33 behind it.
Turn off your compulsive OCD. It works fine.
I stopped looking at it

I've really liked Holosun's red dots but their weakness has been their mounts. Outside of the alignment issues, they tend to fall off under recoil.
Having said that, the alignment likely does have some effect on parallax but not enough to count.
