Are the flip caps removable? I have no need for those and do particularly like the way they look.

Yep. Just pull 'em off with your hand.

The front ones also work with the T1 and come in opaque and clear. Some more fun facts.

Not sure why anyone would remove them

Just no need for them. I have a t1 but the t2's I've seen have a MUCH sharper dot. Being an around the house and raneed gun covers are really just in the way. The t2 has great glass compared to to the t1 and I have no intention of adding another later to it.

I removed the flip caps on my T2 just because I dont like having to flip them, or at least the front, in a spur of the moment scenario.  I figured if the tried and proven T1 was good enough without flip caps, the T2 is fine without them

Plus, i like the look without them...........my OCD goes nuts when the hinges on the flip caps are not perfectly centered since they move around alot.

I hate the dust that gets in my T1s. The rubber bikini is much slower to remove than my T2 covers. But you're right they'll survive without them

I have a few H-2s and had to remove all the covers due to being able to see my eye ball reflection off the front cover when shooting indoors with the cover closed.  I suppose you could run them open in the 6 oclock position so they don't interfere with your sight picture....but I just pulled them all off.

The rear is clear so no need to flip open in a forced situation, your eyes will focus on the target and see the dot on point.

I'm being offered a brand new t2 for $600. Good deal or do I need to look harder?

The clear offers a more narrowed dot view even than the 20mm offers. I find it a little too small

What mount? You can find slightly used ones on the EE with a larue mount for around $625

True, but in a forced situation, it works.

I'm looking forward to to the clearer glass. Hopefully the dot is a little sharper as well.
