So I want to mount my latest scope the RIGHT way, and use one of the torque wrench screwdrivers that measures in in-lbs.  I've usually ignored this step and just gone by "feel".  What are some good options?  I don't really want to spend more than $50 or so, and would be happy if there's an easier hack that gets the same results.  I'm looking strongly at the Wheeler FAT Wrench which goes for $45 right now on Amazon.  What does the ARFCOM hive use?

I use the Fatwrench.  It works well and I have had it for a long time.  I use it for all my gun attachments and also for torquing bolt gun actions.  It insures consistency and prevents stripping out small screws.

I've started using a Fix It Stick torque limiter set for 25in/lb.  I like that I can fit everything I need into a small range kit in case something comes up at the range.  What mount and torque spec are you planning on using?

I have a Utica which is higher end but I started using the Fatwrench and it works quite well.  You can get one for $45 shipped from Amazon.  This is the non digital version.

I bought a Borka kit a few years ago and it is one of my favorite purchases of all time.  I use it constantly on gun and bicycle projects.

Long time user of the Fat Wrench.  Works fine.

Wheeler Fat Wrench.

Although when using the "feel" method, you might not over tighten a given fastener, getting them all to the same torque value is not easy. A scope ring with one fastener 20% or so under torqued could be problematic.  I usually two step the torquing function. That is, if the spec calls for 15 in lbs, I torque them all to 9 or 10, then dial up to 15 and hit them all again. I'm not sure this makes a hell of a lot of difference, but it feels right to me.

Fat wrench has been great for me

Having the right tool for the job, especially when it comes to firearms, gives me confidence that I'm not about to fuck up and expensive piece of equipment

I do the same thing.  If it's 25-30 in/lbs, I'll even do it in 3 steps of ~ 10 in/lb increments.
