Good evening all,

This is my first post, so thanks for taking the time to help.

I have an Aimpoint T2 that I bought 6 months ago(I did leave it on for about 4 months by accident while it was in the safe), but I haven used  it till today as I was mounting it on a SBR. I got all my stamps back this week so I took my SBR out and attached my suppressor(more on that later). Over the course of about an hour I put 15 rounds sighting it in. After that I shot another 30 in about 10 minutes. While I was shooting the last 30 my red dot dissipeared and would only come on after I fired the gun, while it was cycleing.

My questions are
1. Is that normal battery life,
2. Is it bad battery?
3 was the suppressor running so hot that it may have overheated the the T2
4. Did I just get a dud t2?

I here enjoying a nice bourbon and a cigar and I'm still not getting the clarity I need on this issue.

Thanks in advance.

That shouldn't happen. Since you say firing the rifle affects it, I would guess there's an intermittent connection somewhere. Have you checked the battery?  Is it seated properly?  Do the contacts look clean?  Is the battery cover tightened sufficiently?

If none of those things help, you might have a defective unit.

ETA:  I would also try rotating the brightness knob back and forth in case there's a dirty contact etc.

I should have added I purchased 2 T2 at the same time, one has been on my son's 22ar, and we have around a 1,000 rounds through it with no problems.  Caps are tight, and now that I'm home the Red dot is back and working fine.

All of this and I'd start with a brand new battery.

That's not normal.  I would try a new battery just to be sure.  Aimpoint has amazing customer service and will fix the issue if it persists.

Try a new battery and get back out and shoot it. See if issues persist. Aimpoint will take care of it.

Also, they are meant to be left on always. Keep them on as it is no accident when others do

Use the red zeroing tool to tighten your battery cap. You should keep tightening until the tool starts to flex.

....but, but, but...it's an Aimpoint. There must be some mistake.

All Aimpoint micros I have owned require that the battery cap be FIRMLY tightened to prevent contact loss.

As stated above, wrench that sucker down with a significant amount of force and what you are experiencing should not occur again.

Found the Eotech fanboy. Every manufacturer has the chance to screw something up. It's what they do to make it right that counts.

Let us know what you find, OP. I contend you have the best RDS on the market with your T2

If left on for 6 months at the highest brightness settings, the battery would be dead or near dead.  Aimpoint micro battery life is a strong function of the brightness setting.  OP did not identify what setting he left it on for the 6 months, which we would need to know to comment further.  I keep my micros on setting 8, change the battery every three years, and have never had one "die".  Aimpoint posted a setting verses battery life expectancy once and IIRC at the brightest setting it was about a month.

Use the supplied plastic tool and tighten the battery compartment down with it.  I had,the same issue on my T2 and that fixed it.

Yeah, there is.  The battery cap needs to be tightened.

Were your previous 26 posts this compelling too?
