Good evening all,

This is my first post, so thanks for taking the time to help.

I have an Aimpoint T2 that I bought 6 months ago(I did leave it on for about 4 months by accident while it was in the safe), but I haven used  it till today as I was mounting it on a SBR. I got all my stamps back this week so I took my SBR out and attached my suppressor(more on that later). Over the course of about an hour I put 15 rounds sighting it in. After that I shot another 30 in about 10 minutes. While I was shooting the last 30 my red dot dissipeared and would only come on after I fired the gun, while it was cycleing.

My questions are
1. Is that normal battery life,
2. Is it bad battery?
3 was the suppressor running so hot that it may have overheated the the T2
4. Did I just get a dud t2?

I here enjoying a nice bourbon and a cigar and I'm still not getting the clarity I need on this issue.

Thanks in advance.

Intermittent on/off like that is a sure sign of you not having the battery cover screwed down tight enough...

Sounds like an internals issue. I've left my T2 on for almost two years now since I bought it from Larue in early 2015 I believe.

I just wanted to see if the five year battery life was true and it so far it seems to be going good. There might be some play in your adjustment knobs or something, that's all I can come up with. I run my T2 on a 16" midlength with a magnifier and it doesn't have any issues like that.

Replace the battery and make sure the cap is tight.

How would the suppressor's heat have effected the optic? The logic there escapes me...

My dad had the same issue. Turns out it was the battery cap. He just hand tighten it. The cap is so small and thin that it makes it difficult to do if you have big fingers. Add in recoil and I can see how it can loosen up. I used the supplied tool to tighten it down a bit and issue went away.
