Thats right folks you read it right. This is a bath time review of the latest and great optic from Sig Sauer Electroptics. It's gonna be a quick and dirty review so hold on tight.
I picked this optic up on a whim because it looks cool (to me) and picked up up out of the EE for well under retail price. There is absolutely fuckall for information anywhere about this sight so I am taking it upon myself to be the people voice when it comes to a review. Upon opening the package and handling the sight its pretty robust and well made. It includes a kill flash and two mounting options, a crossbolt and a QD lever. It comes with the QD lever installed and honestly i will leave it that way until i deem it necessary to try the crossbolt. A energizer battery is provided which is a switch from the norm of chinese optics. This optic touts 62,000 hours of battery life with a motion switch. My only gripe is the battery orientation is not clear on the optic itself. I actually had to read the manual to figure it out. Attached File The clicks on the battery switch are positive and offer several brightness adjustements. The dot is crisp and clear with washout on super bright setting in low light which is any red dot optic ive ever seen. Its just as good as an Aimpoint Pro. Attached File Looking at the turret caps they are well protected by machined metal. Turret caps are help captive by rubber tethers and flip caps on the lenses are positive and well made. Attached File I mounted this optic on my Super cheap Larue 16 inch rifle. I have only about $600 in this gun and it wears a Larue barrel, MBT and rail........ I threw the whole shebang in the trunk of my car and it sat all day in 23 degree weather. After one of the key feature is anti fog lens coatings I wanted to test it. Ran it into my hotel room and sure as shit it fogged up. Oh well it wasnt that bad, it wasnt a deal breaker but just a mark against it. Attached File I haven't sighted the optic in yet and will update this review as i get it dialed in and throw it around a bit. I expect good things from this little sight. if you were wondering why its the bath time review....... well ill let you decide....... |

The "fog proof" in their description is referring to internally. I've yet to find any optic (binos or scope) which won't fog on the exterior when conditions are right.
"Dependable waterproof (IPX-7 rated for complete water immersion up to 1 meter) and fog-proof performance." https://www.sigsauer.com/store/romeo7-1x30-mm.html Fog clings to dirt, if lenses are dirty they have the potential to fog briefly. I use this on all my hunting optics and even then I can get them to fog briefly if I breathe right on them while glassing. http://www.avantlink.com/click.php?tt=cl&pw=55963&ctc=iwf1bv6hi400zk8a0104w&mi=11469&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.cabelas.com%2Fproduct%2FZEISS-FOG-DEFENDER%2F1855734.uts?productVariantId=3888646&WT.tsrc=PPC&WT.mc_id=GoogleProductAds&WT.z_mc_id1=03921502&rid=20&gclid=CMjq-J2m4tACFQNufgodWVQJ9w&gclsrc=aw.ds |
