| Do you guys use a torque screwdriver or just tighten till snug? I'm leaning towards spending $60 and doing it the right way (especially since I tend to over do it) but I'm curious to see if it's necessary. |

I have a Leupold scope I installed on a Remington 700 30-06 eighteen years ago and I have never removed or tightened the scope mount screws in those 18 years. I'm sure I put all my man juice into torquing it long ago. For all I know, I could have slightly deformed the tube. It has shot true the entire 18 years but I don't shoot MOA all day challenges with it.
I have been using a small screwdriver type torque wrench for the past 5 years. I currently have a higher end Utica that goes up to 35 in lbs and I recently bought a Fat Wrench because it has a higher torque range. I think it's a good idea to use a small torque screwdriver or scope specific torque tool. |

Wheeler FAT wrench on Amazon 49.99, wheeler bubble level 12 bucks. You could buy any cheap ass bubble level. Do it right and you will have the proper tools for all your gun needs and whatever else you can dig up. Scope and mount manufacturers list torque specs for a reason. |
| You're messing with $100 and up mounts and $300 and up optics. You could mess one up with too much torque. Or you could use too little torque, miss a shot at a critter or waste a bunch of time and ammo wondering why your rifle won't shoot. Get a $50 wrench so you don't have to worry. |

I use a Borka Tool kit. I love it. |

I found one of these on ebay for $75 or so. Recently calibrated.
