Just got my new aimpoint in and I'm noticing strange reflections inside the tube.

2 dots front and back (making 3 total)
and a strange line that gets worse the more you move to extreme angles

this happens on the 2 highest settings.

my camera picked it up very well.

different brightness settings from highest to lower.

What do you see with your eyes at settings 5, 6 and 7? (the first 4 settings should not be viewable in a well-lit room).

The highest settings are typically for bright outdoor use.  Shouldn't be too noticeable out in sunlight.

Excuse my ignorance  but how are the settings calculated?

Is the lowest setting 0 (off ) or 1 (off)?
or does it even turn off?

I dont have NVG's so I cant see any of the settings around the lower range.

I believe the first setting on the NV models is usually the lowest NV.

Ah ok , well around the lower settings I don't see any of the aberrations , its only on the top maximum settings indoors.

I guess its a non-issue and I'm just turning it up too high indoors?

Yeah, I get lens glare and flare indoors when the brightness is too high.  I usually have my T1's set at about 6 or 7 indoors.  I adjust up if I'm shooting outdoors in bright sunlight and down on overcast days or low light conditions.

You should never use the maximum settings indoors.

Next someone will complain that its too dim on the first two settings. I mean come on... do they need a new section of the Aimpoint manual for this?

PROBLEM: My Aimpoint is too bright and has bloom and glare.
SOLUTION: Reduce the brightness setting to as lower level.

PROBLEM: My Aimpoint is too dim and hard to see.
SOLUTION: Increase the brightness setting to a higher level.

Yes, reduce it until there is a nice, visible dot with a white light on indoors

I like to set mine indoors with interior lights on , and my SF Scout light on , on a white wall.

That way , the dot won't washout if used at night indoors, light on.
