| First AR-15. A2 front sight, no handle,16" barrel. Looking to buy first scope. Outdoor range goes to 400 yds. Occasional 600 yds available. Indoor range 25 yds. Planned use of scope will be for competition. I'd prefer Vortex. Budget for scope & mount around $500. Within the Vortex line, any thoughts on best option based on projected use. |

Quoted: Strike Eagle in a ADM or PEPR mount. DON'T get anything in the Diamondback series, you may as well just go to Wallmart and get a bubble pack scope. The old saying has never been truer than it is with optics, you get what you pay for. Which unfortunately is generally less than you expect. What type of competition? It does matter. |
| Consider a mid powered scope for those distances. The Weaver Grand Slam Tactical 3-10x40mm with true Japanese glass and construction, MRAD turrets that track true and mstching mil dot reticle. It is a MidwayUSA exclusive and can often be found on sale for $299. It is not illuminated. Your money goes for much better glass. it embarrasses the Chinese Strike Eagle in optical performance. |
