I'm in the process of getting together a 20 inch rifle that I plan to put a scope on with back up sights. I'm looking to cut corners to make room in the budget for a quality mount so I'm thinking about using Magpuls for the back ups. Question is, are the Magpuls "good enough" for this limited use situation or should I plan on spending more for better quality back ups? |

The plastic magpuls are tougher than a lot of metal buis No, they are actually tougher than most metal folding sights. Very much good to go. They continue to be OEM folding sight choice on many complete rifles from big name brand companies for good reason. They work and don't cause problems. If you later want steel, the Magpul Pros are just as rugged, but are slimmer and more streamlined. For now, go with the polymers. Incredible value. |

Yes the Magpul polymer sights are fine, however I would just skip them altogether if you are trying to save money.
After giving it some thought I realized that BUIS are totally worthless for me, and I would expect for most rifles, so I no longer waste the time and money on them. |

All depends on your application.
For my coyote gun, I opted for 45 degree offset polymer flip ups (cheap ones for now) to allow me to take close in shots easily. If all you plan to do is target shoot, then maybe you don't need to have BUIS. Will bait my son into getting me a good set of BUIS for X-mas |

Magpies are fine if you're referencing the polymer. If you afford them, get the steel Magpul Pros. this guy.. bought my rifle with FSP and shit plastic magpul rear on it.. when i went free float i got the "Pro" front to replace the FSP.. now the back makes me want to vommit. Get the steel pros, i love the front. |

If it's going to be a plinker/bench gun, it's fine to cheap out and not get BUIS. If it's going to be your go-to HD/SD/SHTF/Assfuckastan rifle, BUIS = cheap insurance. Magpul polymer MBUS are good value if you're on a budget. If you have a little more $, I'd go for the Pros, Troys (inb4 FT), KAC, Matech, etc. |
