| I'm gonna order and ADM 30mm mount for my new mtac and I wasn't sure about whether or not I should get one of the 20/30 moa versions? Since I'm using this as a mostly cqb scope I'm assuming I would want it as high as possible like a red dot no? Adm lists their higher moa mounts for improved long range? I'm confused? |

The "20/30 MOA" mounts have a cant built into them which gives you more internal scope elevation adjustment range for longer range shooting.
Think of it like this, say your scope has 40 MOA of adjustment travel and it is able to be zeroed in the dead center of that adjustment range. You now only have 20 MOA of elevation adjustment to compensate for bullet drop before you bottom the scope out. With the canted base/mount, you would now be zeroed almost all the way at the top of the adjustment range (because the scope is canted downwards), so instead of 20 MOA of available adjustment, you'll have 40. This allows you to dial your elevation for longer distance shots without having to use a holdover. For your purposes, you do not need a mount with the built in elevation. Go for the standard (0 MOA) mount. |
