so I've had a couple of outings with a scope.  A Trijicon AccuPoint 3-9x

Anyways, today I noticed depending on my cheekweld, rifle was shooting high or low.  Consistently low at a certain spot.  I will say it's about 1" low of POI at 50 yards.  It should be about 1/2" low at 50 yards since it's zeroed for 100rds.   It seems to shoot low, if I'm close up to the scope.  As close as possible, like nose to CH type hold.  If I pull back a little bit, near the extreme of what I believe is called the eye relief(???), it seems to hit where I want it and consistently.

What's the deal? Or is it just a case of noobitis?

That is the importance of a consistent cheek weld when using a scope. I'm not an expert so I can't explain it that well. Moving your face on the gun will change the way everything lines up and throw your shots, exactly like you're experiencing. Next time you go out, focus on getting the exact same cheek weld every time and see if that helps. And if need be adjust your scope/stock to enable you to get that good, solid, consistent cheek weld.

Parallax is not adjusted for the range your shooting at.

I forgot to include my targets.  Duurrrpp.  My first 10 rounds were pretty good.  Then it was all over the place, lol.

AE223 ammo didn't shoot well at all...

This target was burning through the Guat M193 for function tests @ 50 yards.

This target was at 100 yards with CBC 77gr

Lots of room for improvement.

You might grab some Fed 50gr polymer tip for cheap fairly accurate shooting. I averaged .836 MOA using it in one of my barrels.

For factory loaded long range shooting I've had good success with Norma 77gr. My 20" Larue averaged .680 MOA on the MOA challenge with it.
