So I installed my Magpul MBUS Pro LR rear sight on my SIG 516. It also has a Magpul MBUS Pro front sight with the Blitzkrieg Components AR Spike (Luminescent Green Stripe) installed. The MBUS Pro LR has a dial with increments from 200-600 meters. I want to zero it, but am unsure how to do it exactly.

The link below looks like the Army 25/300 meter BZO would be great, but what settings should I have the MBUS Pro LR set at? Should I put dial on 300 meters and sight it in at 25 meters? Really wish Magpul would've included a little instruction sheet.

Thanks for any/all help. My rifle has a 16" barrel, 1/7 twist and I'm shooting M855 rounds.

Point of Aim/Point of Impact is roughly the same at 25 meters and 300 meters due to the bullets trajectory using what I assume is 55 grain M855 ball ammo. There's a graph in the link provided that makes that clear.

Set your aperture to 300, zero at 25, and you should be good to go.

^^^ But verify at known marked  ranges, because any seemingly small error at 25 will be magnified  8x at 200 and 12x at 300.

I would switch to the 200m setting and zero at 50 yards. When I did this and went out to 200n it was pretty close.

M855 is 62gr not 55.

If you want to be able to use the sight from 200-600 you'll want to do the 25/300 as that is likely what its designed for. Using a 50/200 will throw off your drop at the longer ranges.

Am I understanding you correctly that you want to zero your sight so the BDC settings are correct for your rifle's POI at each distance?

Any discussion about this is purely academic unless you know what sight radius and barrel length/velocity the Magpul sight's BDC is calibrated for.  If your setup doesn't match this, it doesn't matter where you zero it -- the BDC will only be accurate at that one distance, and will get progressively farther off the further you crank it from that setting.

The first thing I'd do is determine how many MOA each setting on the sight actually moves your POA with your setup.  To do this, you can mount a non-magnified red dot sight in co-witness with the irons and adjust the dot to co-witness perfectly when the sight is on the lowest (200m) setting, then click the rear sight to the next setting and adjust the red dot until it is again in perfect alignment with the irons, counting the clicks as you go.  Do this for each setting on the rear sight.  If you know the click value of your red dot, this will tell you the actual MOA adjustment value of each setting on the rear sight, which you can then compare with your rifle's actual trajectory, as determined by a ballistics program.

I wonder why they would mark it in meters?  I sighted mine in for 50 yards because 200 yards is the far zero.  I'm hoping the 300 plus settings would be close to the 50/200 trajectory.

TYPICALLY the 50 yard near zero lines up with a 220 yard far zero or 200 meters. Obviously as with anything it varies by rifle, bullet, etc.

200 yards is about 183 meters.  That isn't go to make any kind of difference as far as aiming goes.  You will get a larger change in impact between different lots of ammo, then you would because you zeroed at meters instead of yards, or vice versa.

Military style sights are usually calibrated, or designed to be zeroed in meters.  So that shouldn't be a surprise.

Somewhat off the topic of the distance portion of your question....but you did bring this up so I guess it's ok. What do you think of the Blitzkrieg front sight post "spike"? I got one about a month ago Im guessing and think it was pretty damn nice. I rarely used my irons but I can see using them more now. I was able to get very acceptable accuracy to roughly 100y which is about as far as I can see anyways....
