Are the Aimpoint M4 threads any more durable than the compact T1 model that tend to strip?  Are the M4 threads aluminum or steel?

If the proper torque is applied, the threads do not strip. If one uses the orange installation tool that comes with the sight and stops just when the ears start to deflect, there are no issues. The only time the threads strip is when the installer doesn't know what they are doing.

Oh my, never thought of the benefit of purchasing my M4s from Larue Tactical with it premounted on a LT659.

I never had to torque down any screws.

BTW, I sure do like the LT mounts. Great return to zero. I swap a M4s and TA31RCO both with LT mounts on a LE6920 all the time.

I've never heard of a stripped screw on an M4, but anything is possible.

My M4s rides on an LT659 too.
