Hi guys I recently won an EOTech 512.A65 on ebay, I recieved it today and took it out to inspect. When I look through it the optic is blurry, it doesnt seem to matter what brightness it is on the ring and dot in the center isnt a "perfect" circle but grainy looking if that makes sense? I tried new batteries and that didnt change anything, im wondering if there a setting I can try or did I get a bad one? Its used and the seller sayd no returns on the ad.

This is my first red dot and all I have really done is read here and online about them and through a few bids out there so I am completely new to these go easy on me ;) Thanks

EoTechs are true holographic sights, so they aren't going to be as crisp as an LED since the reticle is actually composed of individual pixels

Usually lowering the brightness setting cleans them up enough that it isnt a distraction....

Don't focus on the reticle, you have to focus on the target and the reticle will clear up.

Last time I had my eyes checked they were perfect but it could absolutely be me...

Ill get to the range asap and test her out, hopefully its all good! I paid $310 shipped it came with the case and looks to be about 9/10 for physical condition. Hopefully I didnt over pay.

The reticle in EoTechs kinda looks like the output from a laser. Kinda grainy if you really focus on the detail. It's normal

I actually had the same issue. Yes, the reticle on the EoTechs are not super crisp, but this happened to me out of the blue after owning it for several months. Reticle went completely fuzzy no matter what brightness setting it was on. Try to look through another EoTech to make sure it isn't just you, but mine was a night and day difference from when it was new. No idea what or when it happened. Their customer service is pretty good so if you call and explain the issue, they will most likely fix it.

...or resell it and buy an Aimpoint.

Normal. When you shoot it with 2 eyes open focusing on the target, that is when the reticle looks crisp. It's not made to look crisp staring at the reticle.

I have never had a problem with my eotech.  I bought one that had a split dot that made it look like a 2 moa dot in the middle. Other than that they have been great.
