So I was looking for an Aimpoint to put on one of my rifles and want to get an Aimpoint PRO. The thing is that I have somebody offering me a trade for an Aimpoint ACO in excellent condition. I don't need night vision, a year battery life is more than plenty, but the beefier mount and lens caps on the PRO make me prefer that optic.
So, does anybody have anything bad to say about the ACO besides the fact that it has less features than the PRO and is not that much less expensive? Do you think it would be a good deal to trade my Vortex CrossfireII 1-4x vbright with a burris PEPR mount for the ACO or should I just keep trying to sell my Vortex and save for the PRO? |

At the price points that they are, I'd go for the PRO. Just my take, you can find good deals on used ones on the EE all the time. Plus if you change your mind again the Pro will sell better. I agree with all of this, however, in a trade situation things change a bit. Price point does not matter as much however if you match the MSRP of my Vortex and Mount against the ACO, I would come out with a good deal IMO. The biggest thing I want out of my Aimpoint is reliability and durability. If the ACO can provide those 2 things, this trade may be a good deal for me. My heart says to pass on the deal, keep my scope on the market until the right buyer comes along then get the PRO. My brain says the current offer is a good deal. |
| You have a good handle on the pros and cons of ACO vs. PRO. I have had both. If you value durability and reliability, you will want lens covers. That brings the price equal. The MUCH better mount and battery life on the PRO makes it a no-brainer. But a good deal is a good deal. You know the prices of the optics -- if you can make a favorable trade, do it. I would then just sell the ACO and buy a PRO! I sold my ACO in like new condition after comparing it side by side with the PRO, and made money on it. I used it to buy a used Comp M4 I found a real good deal on. |

In that case go ahead and go for the trade, then aim to eventually move up to a T1/H1. Those are the cream of the crop for red dots. For all intents and purposes, the ACO will do what you need. Aimpoints in general have good resale value, so you might be able to flip it and go for a PRO or a Micro. |

The problem with comparing MSRPs is that the ACO is extremely over priced for the features you receive, AND when compared to the PRO. The ACO should have an MSRP of about $300 and sell for about $225 to $250 shipped. |
