| I'm building an AR45 with standard size upper/rail height, but barrel is 8 inches. I'm trying to find out if standard or micro flip up BUIS would work best. I know you should use full size BUIS on non short barrel AR builds, but not sure if you should use micro sights for shorter barrels or if full size will work with SBRs as well. I'm considering going with Troy battle sights again. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. |

Troy micros are not meant to be used on AR-15 platform rifles. They are for rifles with 'higher' rails than the AR-15.
They are shorter than 1.4" and won't line up if you intend to co-witness any optics. I have a 7.5" barreled SBR and use standard troy BUIS on it. |
| i think as mentioned that micro sights aren't really meant for the AR in it's standard configuration. the upper receiver on some variations is taller, so you don't need the sight as high, that's where you'd want a micro sight, so that it would bring it up to where your eyes would be. HK 416 and the vltor uppers come to mind. if you're still using a normal AR upper, you're going to want a regular set of sights, no matter how short your barrel is. |
