Remove the upper and pull the bolt out, lay it on a stable bag, look down the bore at something 50-100yd off
Line your reticle up with whatever you see down the bore. Put it together and shoot. This gets me on paper 100% of the time. Most laser boresighters are absolute garbage. |

You can bore sight an AR without any special tools.
1. Separate the upper from the lower and pull the bolt carrier. 2. Set the upper on a stable base such as a cleaning stand or shooting bags. The less the upper moves the better. 3. Sight down the barrel on something easy to identify. I use a stop light down the street. 4. Adjust the turrets so that the scope is sighted in on the same thing you are looking at through the barrel.
