TA31 for 14.5 mid, or TA44 for SBR?

Reviews of mini ACOGs appreciated.

Put a TA31 (green horseshoe/dot) on my 14.5. Quick easy target acquisition at distance (longest so far is 200m) and equally fast pick up in CQB (10-50m) You will not be disappointed. Have you handled one? That is what sold me on the TA31 - pricey but you get what you pay for.

While a TA44 isn't exactly optimal on a longer barrel, you can always put a TA31 on an SBR.

I have one of each that I use for practical rifle and 3 gun... the 1.5x16 amber triangle is on my back up light weight carbine, and a 31F red chevron on my 16" mid primary game gun...the 31 has a very uncluttered reticle, I am transitioning from a TA01 that I shot for a number of years, and am still getting used to the BAC (I have a set of roll over sights for very close targets) of the 31F... the 1.5 works well out to 200m for me, but as I get older, think that a 2x might have been a better option... the 1.5 is very quick on close targets...light gathering is phenomenal with both for looking into dark corners and target identification... I really like the stadia lines (19" subtend) for estimating wind hold off at distances...I had to hold off about 15" for a 10" MGM flash target at Ft Benning in 2010

The only ACOG I have any experience with is a TA33 and I really like it. It works very well up close using the BAC and the 3X magnification helps on longer shots. I'd put it on anything from a 10.5" to a 16", my currently resides on a 14.5".

I have a TA-44SR on a 'go to' 16" rifle. I picked it as a red-dot replacement after a few months of having issues at the local carbine match. (astigmatism + other eye-issues made the 10" rounds at 200 yards smaller than a red-dot and a magnifier wasn't helping)

My local range and matches only go out to 200 yards, and the TA-44 is great out to that distance at the 10" plates that wind up out there. With the 1.5x I'm sure you can use it out to 500 yards to hit anything you would consider with iron sights as well.

Glass is, as with all ACOG's extremely clear.
