Just picked one of these up second hand here on the forums. So when I flip the scope all the way to 6 power I can still see a little bit of the red ring around the outside when illuminated. Is this normal? It's kind of distracting and makes me think the scope is going to full magnification.

Thanks

Yeah, I sent one back when I first got it.  The second one they sent out did it too.  Figured it was not a big deal and kept it.

Okay thanks, just wanted to make sure it hadn't been dropped or something and thrown off.

I'll take it to the range this week and see how much I notice it in actual use.

It's designed to just barely not be able to see the ring at 6x, but there is little to no margin for error.  if I choke up too close to the eyepiece I can see some ring like you're talking about.  If I'm perfectly in the sweet spot it's gone but any side to side movement and Ill catch a sliver.

It's a quirk.  Enjoy it at the range.  I love mine for 0-500y, day (illumination off) or night (illum on).  Make sure to adjust the ocular focus if your reticle isn't sharp or you're getting too much eye strain.  It may want a slightly different focus for 1x vs 6x, I use one somewhere in between that works for both.

It's one of the reasons I sold mine.
