Am curious how many out their run a magnifier with their RDS, I am thinking about putting a 3X one with my Aimpoint Pro and am looking at pro's and con's, I know it's added weight but what other negatives are there ?

I have been looking at they are not cheap, well some are very inexpensive but would like to stay in the $250 range with mount if possible.

Here is my current setup:

I bought a primary arms magnifier for a build, with mount and magnifier its way to much weight, even with the aimpoint pro  and I didn't care about magnifying It looks like that is not a free float rail gun the dot itself. the magnifier was fine and worked great just doesn't seem worthwhile in the overall process .

No my rifle does not sport a FF rail so I am guessing if I went with a magnifier the RDS would have to go more forward and since it's not FF it would be an issue ?

It wont be an issue if you shooting at man sized targets, and the whole weight thing is overrated imo.

A 1-4 with mount usually weighs 1lb which is the same as a red dot/magnifier or more if you use a micro red dot.

ETA: IF you want the biggest FOV you will need to pay the money to get an Eotech. Just FYI.

This gets fairly decent reviews for the cost but not sure as I have not looked thru this one compared to say one from EOTech or Aimpoint

I've been there and done that.  My recommendation is sell the Aimpoint and buy a good 1-4 scope.  It's a much better option than have the crappy eye relief and distortion of a magnifier.  With a little practice you'll be just as fast with a good scope on 1X as your are with the Aimpoint plus have good true magnification.

I'd much rather have a good 1-4X than a RDS with magnifier. I like RDS a lot but don't like them with magnifiers at all.

I like the RD sights as a true 1x.

I have other rifles with 1x4 scopes for that role.  I tend to shoot the 1x4's a lot of the time.  A good 1x4 scope is very useful and fun to shoot.

I have a primary arms 3x magnifier and it is ok when I use it . I have a Q.D. mount and most of the time I put it in my pack or jacket pocket , if I get to a place where I might need it I just slap it on the rail . one thing I like about it is when I do have it mounted and flipped to the side I can roll the rifle a little bit and use it like a monocular to get a better look a closer look at things . I notice you have a buis so you might need a cantilever mount . I sometimes use this with an eotech and like it there alot better but you have to center the reticle so its not just a toss it on and go when switching from one gun to another .

I'm very very happy with my PA LER 3x on the american defense QD swing mount.

I may go to a few shops and try a few out along with a 1-4 for comparison

I have an Aimpoint Micro and it really blooms for my eye. Magnifying it turns it into a blurry slash, totally unworkable.

I have an older Comp-C3 and it does not bloom for me at all. Magnified it looks like a normal dot.

Do any of you who have a Pro also have the blooming problem with the Micro, and if so does the Pro exhibit the blooming?

no problem with blooming at all . I do turn the intensity down  when using the magnifier  behind the aimpoint pro or eotech xps-2
